Life rarely follows the exact script we write for ourselves. When plans take an unexpected turn or lead to a detour, it can feel incredibly frustrating and discouraging. But what if we reframed those unexpected outcomes as plot twists—pivotal moments that shape our story in ways we never imagined? How often do you catch yourself waiting for a "green light" from someone else before making a move? Ever been at a traffic light that just turned green, only for the person behind you to lay on their horn milliseconds later? It’s easy to react with frustration, but it’s also a great metaphor for life. Some people are ready to move instantaneously—they know where they’re going, they’re in a rush, or patience just isn’t their strong suit. Understanding that everyone moves at a different speed helps us cultivate more grace in our daily interactions. I’m naturally someone who takes initiative and goes after what I want, but even action-takers deal with procrastination. Sometimes procrastination doesn't look like laziness—it hides behind "waiting for the right moment". For me, that meant delaying self-publishing my book, launching this podcast, and taking on big goals. Being the "black sheep" or feeling a little "weird" gets a bad rap, but leaning into what makes you different is liberating. When you stop trying to align with public opinion and focus instead on staying true to your inner conviction, you discover a freedom that fitting in can never give you. It's not about being better than anyone else—it's simply about honoring who you truly are. Overthinking has a way of bringing everything to a complete standstill. It’s easy to tell ourselves we need to be completely fearless or guaranteed success before making a move, but the truth is, the "perfect moment" isn't coming. You don't have to wait for zero fear—when you see that green light, it’s time to move full steam ahead! There is a high cost to waiting for perfection. When we hold out until conditions are 100% perfect before taking a step, we end up stuck in a cycle of overthinking. Progress happens when you stop waiting for perfect alignment and just start taking action. How often do you catch yourself being your own harshest critic? Self-doubt has a habit of creeping in uninvited and trying to pull up a chair in your mind. But here’s the key: it’s just a visitor. When doubt tries to stay awhile, reminding yourself of the bigger picture—and why you started in the first place—gives you the strength to say, "We got this."
