  • There’s a huge difference between being mean and having high standards 🍎📚

    September 9, 2026

In this clip from Tricks My Dog Taught Me, Quinn and I break down the real distinction between a teacher who is just being mean and one who holds you to high standards because they care about your learning. Whether it’s changing jobs, moving, evolving relationships, or health shifts, accepting that nothing stays static is one of life’s biggest challenges. I sat down with Reggie to talk about how embracing constant change—and building a toolkit of backup plans—can help turn anxiety into peace when navigating life's unexpected turns. No two experiences are ever truly identical, even when you go to the exact same place or repeat the same routine ✈️✨. Reggie reflects on how even frequent travel—like passing out as soon as the plane engine starts—always brings something new because every moment and destination holds its own unique feel. Sometimes we get so caught up reading the room that we forget we have the power to shape the energy in it ✨. Whether we realize it or not, how we show up can change an environment for good or bad—and my hope is always to bring the kind of positive energy that makes people glad I walked in! 💫 When the feel of an environment changes, is it the space itself shifting, or is it our own internal perception changing how we experience it? 🧘‍♂️✨ When you lose a parent or face a major life change, it can feel like losing your ultimate grounding force. Reggie opens up about how losing his mother triggered sudden travel panic attacks, and how understanding what’s happening in the brain—along with grounding exercises—helped him refocus and overcome that fear. 🧠✨ It might sound simple—or even like something out of a Disney movie ✨—but taking a few seconds to just look up at the sky and observe the twinkling stars can bring so much calm and grounding when life feels busy. 🌌🌌 Grief doesn't always show up how or when we expect it to. 💔 Reggie shares a vulnerable moment about how, after losing his mother, he unexpectedly began experiencing debilitating panic attacks and intense anxiety while traveling and navigating major life transitions. Growth happens when you step out of your shell and take risks 💫. I asked Reggie how he’s seen our dynamic evolve while keeping our core bond intact, and he shared such a meaningful perspective on watching me step into my confidence, take big leaps, and travel the world over the years. You have way too much personality, talent, and life in you to ever bottle it up or hold it back ✨. As Reggie points out, allowing yourself to share your authentic gifts with the world is a beautiful thing—and there’s always even more waiting to come out! 🌟
